1. American West of John Ford, The:
This documentary covers the life and career of one of the most recognized
American film directors of all time, John Ford. Interviews with the fabled
director, as well as many of the stars that have worked with him, fill this
feature with narratives of the making of some of Hollywood's greatest Westerns.
Narrating this documentary are three stars that have had great success teaming
up with the director, John Wayne, Henry Fonda and James Stewart.
2. Angel and the Badman:
Proving that good things can happen to bad people, Quaker girl Penelope
Worth nurses the disreputable Quirt Evans back to health. Now he must choose
between two worlds, the one he has always lived in and the kinder gentler place
that Penelope calls home.
3. Blue Steel:
When a man appears to rob the payroll from a safe, Sheriff Jake (John Wayne)
is hot on his trail. However, just when he is about to take him into custody,
the man saves his life. The two join forces, and discover that Malgrove, a
leading town elder, is attempting to confiscate the local ranches by having his
gang blockade the supply wagons. The ranchers are ready to cave in, but Sheriff
Jake and his partner intervene to save the day.
4. Dawn Rider, The:
John Mason (John Wayne) returns home to see his father, a freight line
agent, only to stumble into a robbery that ends up with his father killed and
him wounded. Nursed back to health by his new friend's favorite girl, who he has
feelings for; Mason vows to track down his father's killer, who also happens to
be the brother of his nurse. Mason finally discovers the killer's identity and
heads off to confront him, but is unaware that his gun is empty, the bullets
taken out by his friend, who is jealous of his girl's feelings for Mason.
5. Desert Trail, The:
After rodeo star John Scott (John Wayne) wins his event and picks up his
prize money, the rodeo official is killed and all the money is taken. Wrongfully
accused of the crime, Scott and his partner Kansas Charlie (Eddy Chandler) track
the real culprits to Poker City. Before Scott and Charlie can notify the local
sheriff of the criminal's deeds, they are turned in by the criminals and thrown
in jail themselves.
6. Hell Town:
Cattleman Tom hires his cousin Dare Rudd to lead a large cattle drive at the
urging of his girlfriend. He doesn't realize that Dare is romantically
interested in his girl and that the feeling may be mutual. When Dare loses the
money for the drive to crooked gamblers it's up to Tom to win it back. However,
it's up to Dare to save Tom's life.
7: Lawless Frontier, The:
A man is tracking down the criminal responsible for killing his father when
he stops the man from kidnapping a young woman and killing her grandfather. Due
to a case of mistaken identity, the sheriff believes our hero is responsible for
the attacks on the girl and grandfather. The man is eventually freed and sets
out to bring the criminal to justice.
8. Lucky Texan, The:
A young man honors his deceased father's wish for him to go out west and
work with his old partner in raising cattle. Finding the old man working as a
blacksmith, the young man decides to help him with his business. When the young
man and the old timer strike it rich after they discover gold on the old timer's
ranch, a greedy land assayer tries to frame the young man for murder and steal
the old timer's property
9. Man from Utah, The:
This early John Wayne film features him as John Weston, a young drifter who
helps thwart a bank robbery. The grateful Marshal Higgins (Gabby Hayes) asks
Weston for help in investigating a series of deaths involving rodeo riders
competing in a locally sponsored event. Weston enters the rodeo and fall for
local girl Marjorie Cater (Polly Ann Young). Weston must stop Spike Barton (Ed
Peil), the show's promoter, when he discovers the rodeo organizer is planning on
leaving town with all the prize money the local community has contributed.
10. McLintock:
In one of his most beloved roles, John Wane stars in the role of cattle
baron George Washington McLintock. In this sprawling, brawling epic western he
fights with his wife (the fiery Maureen O'Hara), his daughter (the "Girl from
U.N.C.L.E.'s" Stefanie Powers) and an assortment of thieving land sharks.
McLintock is, of course, up to the task taming both family and foes alike.
11. Neath Arizona Skies:
Chris Morrell (John Wayne) is the guardian of a little Native American girl,
who's the heir to a $50,000 oil claim, and he must track down her long-lost
father in order for her to receive the claim. Other men hear about the girl's
inheritance and plot to kidnap the girl in order to get their hands on the
money. Morrell now must also protect the girl from kidnapping and avoid the law
due to a case of mistaken identity as well as attempt to find her father before
the claim expires.
12. Paradise Canyon:
A government agent is sent to the border territory to stop a gang of
counterfeiters so he goes undercover in a traveling medicine show. Suspecting
that the owner of the show is the head of the ring, he is surprised to find the
owner and his daughter kidnapped by the real counterfeiters.
13. Rainbow Valley:
A sheriff resigns his position after believing he is responsible for killing
his best friend. After living in the high country for some time, he comes to the
rescue of his deceased friend's daughter who then hires him as her ranch
foreman. The two then fall in love but complications arise when the woman hears
about the foreman's involvement in her father's death.
14. Randy Rides Alone:
A man is wrongly accused of some murders and is jailed by the local sheriff.
Believing him innocent of the charges, a young woman frees him from jail in
order for the man to track down the real killers. Following some leads, the two
make their way to the killers' hideout hidden behind a waterfall in an attempt
to bring them to justice.
15. Riders of Destiny:
An undercover government agent comes to town to investigate a water supply
problem with the local farmers. It turns out that an unscrupulous local
businessman has a monopoly on the water and is forcing the farmers to pay high
prices for it or forfeit their land. The agent comes up with a plan to get water
for the farmers and bring the water baron to justice.
16: Sagebrush Trail:
When John Brandt (John Wayne) is sent to jail for a murder he never
committed, he escapes and eludes the law, heading west to freedom. He joins an
outlaw gang and is befriended by Jones who turns out to be the real culprit in
the killing. In spite of this, he had no idea that anyone had been convicted in
his place. Brandt decides to forgive and forget, but everything changes when the
pair falls for the same girl.
17. Star Packer, The:
A U.S. Marshal and his traveling companion arrive in town to track down The
Shadow and his gang of marauders. After the new sheriff is gunned down in cold
blood, the Marshal decides to take his place. Bent upon finding out the identity
of the gang leader, the Marshal and his partner capture two of the gang members
hoping they will lead them to The Shadow.
18. Texas Terror:

the two. Along the way, Drew must rescue his friend from a false accusation of
shooting a card shark, by jumping off a train and end up finding a skeleton with
a map to a mine. Taking the map, the two men make it to the local general store
and ask the owner to lock up the map for safe keeping, not knowing that others
have plans for stealing the map and taking the mine.
20. West of the Divide:
Ted Hayden (John Wayne) is searching for his parent's killer. He takes on
the identity of a wanted outlaw in order to join a gang run by Gentry (Lloyd
Whitlock), in the hopes that it will bring him closer to finding the guilty
party. Hayden discovers that Gentry was responsible for the murders and is also
trying to take the ranch of his girlfriend.
21. Winds of the Wasteland:
Two former Pony Express riders buy a stagecoach line in the hopes of turning
it into a successful business. Finding out that their line travels to a ghost
town, the two men learn that a $25,000 government contract is available for
handling mail delivery to the territory. All the two men have to do to get the
contract is beat a rival stage line in a race from Buchanan City to Sacramento.
